1 Month @ DRW!
Today, I celebrate my 1 month anniversary of being at DRW. It is probably the best place I have ever worked. I can see that no one has hidden agendas and there aren't really any politics going on at all. People are all smart and collaborate together. This is a bullshit free environment, unlike my last job. People are more interested in how they can help you than how much stuff costs. Very refreshing. Does this sound like a recruitment speech? Well, we are hiring. Check HERE!
When I first started, I could see that this company moves pretty fast. So adapting to the speed of things was a change. Now that I'm on the same pace, it is going well. I'm also not drowning in new stuff. I think the project is getting more definition (thanks Lyle!), and I'm almost ready to take more stuff on. Yes, I'm a glutton for punishment. Muahahaha.
In other news, I'm sorting out my travel schedule for this year. This is what I have so far:
- June 25-27 - Pittsburgh for my *cough* 20 year high school reunion. Go SPARTANS! (more on this later)
- July 14-18 - ComedySportz 2010 World Tournament in Philadelphia
- Sept 10-12 - Boston Improv Festival (tentative)
- Late Nov - Honeymoon in Egypt
I'm guessing there will be a few other things for nerd meets or shows, but that's all I know. Looking at it, its not that big. It just feels big, probably because of the wedding.
Random thoughts for today:
- Lost was okay yesterday, but I have a feeling I'm in for a disappointing finale.
- Jaime & I finished season 2 of BattleStar Galactica. We play the boardgame occassionally, and soon, Jaime will be ready for the Pegasus expansion.
- I'm at ComedySportz for SIX shows this weekend, and a 3 hour MadSkillz class.
- It is crappy outside 2 days in a row. I need my scooter fix. This is weak sauce.
- My main PC keeps fucking up, so I keep formatting & reloading Vista. Rinse. Repeat. Buy a new PC. I did that today. Stupid $1k bullshit, but I'm sick of the headaches.
- I'm halfway through BioShock 2. It's taking me a while to play that game. I like it, but I don't think I'm that into it. I am excited to start the new Tom Clancy game.
So...the Schenley stuff. Besides being a good school for the IB program, having excellent musicals (thanks PBT), and having DeJuan Blair, Andy Warhol, and Bruno Sammartino. Well, a few years ago, the school that was pretty much in my backyard got shut down, and they moved a few neighborhoods away. When I went home a month ago, I saw this huge monolith of a dead building, and it was sad. Shit, the gym there was brand new when I was attending. Now, they are retiring part of the school program and changing it to the Obama Academy for IB. It will be a 6-12th grade school. I guess those nerds have to go somewhere. Ch..ch..changes. Oh well.
